Obituary of Edward Leslie Bastarache

It’s with great sadness the family of Edward Leslie Bastarache announce his passing on Sunday, November 4th, 2018 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. He was born on May 12, 1929 in Saint John, NB to the late Vital and Elmire (DeRoches) Bastarache. Edward was an Iron Worker all his life, retiring from Trent as a Foreman and Iron Worker. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 842. He was a very hard worker, making sure his family was provided for and looked after all his life. Edward enjoyed puzzles, gardening, doing yard work and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his daughters Sheila Shephard (Lorne) and Jackie Moorcroft (Brian), son Terry Bastarache, brother William Bastarache, sister Helina Bastarache, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Edward is predeceased by his parents, loving wife Linda (Comeau) Bastarache, son Lester Bastarache, siblings; Anita Gladys, Arthur, Barbara, Eugene, Gladys, Henery, Alfred Frederic, Able, Viola, Earnest, Daniel and Walter. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M2L3. 506-634-1701. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church on Saturday, November 10th at 9:30AM. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations in Edward’s memory can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
