Dear Linda and Family, Please accept our belated but heartfelt condolences on Greg's passing. There are givers and takers in life and he was a genuine giver with a warmth of personality that few possess. Greg had an outstanding public service record which I admired since he was first elected in 1988. When I went to Ottawa in 1990, Greg, more than anyone else went out of this way to help me get adjusted. I was grateful to Greg then and our lives have connected so many times since. Our thoughts are with you and your family Linda. Sincerely, Jim & Karen Ross

I'm so sorry Linda, Gregory and Christian for your loss. There is so much I want to say, but for once in my life I can't find the words... Greg was my boss, but he used to say we were more like brothers; and that's what was special about him. He cared for people - all people, regardless of political stripe. He was, in my opinion, the standard for what an elected official should be. He was dedicated to his work and to his family. He listened to the people he worked for - his constituents, and he wasn't afraid to take the fight to his own governing party if he believed the cause to be just. He was decent, respectful, smart and patient. He set high standards and motivated people to meet them. He was my friend. And though we didn't see each other often after 1993, I thought about him often. Told and re-told stories from our time in Ottawa - lessons I carry with me to this day. I'll miss him.

I remember Mr. Thompson as a man who had a genuine concern for people and lived to serve others. I appreciated the fact that he stood up for traditional conservative Christian values, and lived his life in that context. I found him to be a friend to everyone, and even those who would disagree with his moral and political views, could not help but respect him for his integrity. I know of no other person in public service for whom I would have such high regard. He will be greatly missed. Dean Annis

A great man who has left beautiful memories to all who knew him. From teaching us both in school, being a friend and to being a politician with a good reputation he always brought a smile to those around him. Greg dropped in when Steve and I first got married and I was embarrassed we were having boughten chicken nuggets, oven fries and my homemade cranberry sauce. Well he really, really loved the cranberry sauce on bread so made me feel better about my lack of a home cooked meal. He will truly be missed..
