Obituary of Joyce Mary Vautour

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joyce Mary Vautour, a loving and devoted wife; mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Joyce was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at the age of 69, after her battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and belief in God sustained and comforted Joyce in her final days. Joyce was a native of Saint John, born October 1, 1948. However, raised by Antoine and Josephine (Blanchard) Robichaud of Richibucto, NB. Joyce leaves behind Yvon, her devoted husband of 50 years; her children, Susan Dignam (Donald), Giselle Powell, and Donald (Sasha McKenzie) Vautour; grand-children, Matthew, Jessica, and Ashley Dignam, Dylan and Gabe Powell. She also leaves behind a close network of extended family including; nieces, nephews, cousins, and an abundance of people who will forever remember her. Forever smiling, Joyce had a kind soul and the ability to make others feel special. She will be deeply missed by all. In addition to her parents, Joyce was pre-deceased by; 1 brother, 4 brother in-laws, and 1 sister in-law. She worked many years at the Dr. Roberts Hospital, looked after children in her home, and finished her working years at Fundy Linen. She was an active member of the Ladies Group of the Knights of Columbus #6670. She loved spending time with her family and grand-children. She enjoyed travelling to TNT Campground with Yvon, and being part of the campground crew potluck suppers. The family wish to thank the staff and nurses at the SJRH, for their care and support during this difficult time in their lives. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will take place on Friday, November 17 at 2-4 and 6-8 PM from Castle Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 18, at Our Lady of Assumption Church at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow at the Assumption Centre. Interment will take place at a later date at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations to SJRH Palliative Care, Bobby’s Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
