Obituary of Glenn Wilbert Neal

The death of Glenn Wilbert Neal of Brown’s Flat, NB, occurred peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John, NB on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, In his 65th year. Glenn was born in Englehart, Ontario on December 4, 1953 to his parents Albert & May Neal. He was the youngest of 8 children. He was the loving husband of Treena ( nee Korobanik ) Neal. Father of Jennifer (Billy) Coulombe, Steven Whelton, Rebecca, John, and granddaughter Victoria Coulombe. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Stanley (Vivian), Clarence, David, John and Brother-in- law Fred Gardner. He is survived by sisters Ada Gardner, Edith (Roy) Schultz, brother Allen (Linda), and sisters in laws Joyce Neal and Elizabeth O’Dell. Also lovingly remembered by Aunts Arvilla Winters and Mrytle Rodgers, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Glenn grew up in Charlton, Ontario where he enjoyed the farm life. He received his primary education at Savard Consolidated Public School. Here he was very involved with sports and the Fall Fair participation, winning the highest points for 5 years. He graduated from the Englehart High School. High school sports and his school trips to Europe meant everything to him. November 1976 Glenn joined the Department of National Defence in North Bay, Ontario and was posted to CFB Cornwallis, N.S. for basic training. On completion of basic training he was posted to CFB Borden, Ontario for Trades Qualification level 3 Finance training. As a finance clerk Glenn was posted to CFB North Bay Ontario for 5 years; HMCS Saskatchewan for 2 years at sea, and CFS Sioux Lookout Ontario for 2 and a half years. During this time he worked on pay guides, as a claims cashier, non-public funds stocktaking, and as an invoice clerk. Glenn chose to remuster in 1987 while at CFS Sioux Lookout, and was posted to CFB Toronto, Ontario for contact training. He attended courses at CFB Chilliwack B.C., while being posted to CFB Toronto. He was transferred to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment CFB Chilliwack B.C. for 2 years. While there, he received a six month posting on a peace keeping mission in Yugoslavia. His last posting was at 17 Wing Winnipeg, Manitoba. Later, Glenn wrote his carpentry exams and received his qualifications for a Red Seal Carpenter. After retirement from the forces, Glenn worked at various projects as a Carpenter with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 1386 and Local 2262. Glenn had many interests, he loved travelling the world, playing hockey (Toronto Maple Leafs fan), Baseball (Toronto Blue Jays fan), wood working, building furniture, skiing, curling, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. For several years he would come back to Toronto to work at the Royal Winter fair. Most of all, he loved his family with all his heart. He made many trips back to Ontario to visit his relatives. Glenn will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, NB. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 6 to 8pm and Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at Castle Fallsview Chapel on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00am. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery following the service, with a reception being held at the Castle Fallsview Reception Center. Donations to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donors choice.
