Obituary of Alice Lourdes Dignam

“God has gained another angel.” With family by her side at Bobby’s Hospice, it is with heavy hearts that they announce the passing of Alice on September 15, 2018. Alice was born on January 26, 1930 in Welsfield, NB to James and Mary (Holland) Dignam, she was one of 17 children. Alice moved to Saint John at an early age where she worked in the Sterilization Unit of the DVA, the General Hospital and the Saint John Regional Hospital for a combination of 40 years of service. Alice led a simple life; she enjoyed family, friends, church, and bingo. Her greatest love of all was her son Don, his wife Susie and her three grand-children; Matthew, Jessica and Ashley. In addition to her son, Don (Susie) and grand-children, she is survived by her sisters; Margaret Whelan, Donna Conroy, both of Miramichi, Betty McCafferty (Arthur) of Fredericton and Doris Perry (late Oscar) of Saint John, brothers; James (Mary Jane), Edward (June) and Frank Dignam, all of the Miramichi, many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Along with her parents James and Mary (Holland), Alice was pre-deceased by her sisters; Nellie Morgan (Bennie), Bertie Bright (Freddy), Gladys Dignam, Vera Dignam, brothers; Elmer, Byron (Eva), Raymond, Billy and Jackie (Marilyn). A million thanks from the Dignam family; we cannot express enough to the care providers at Bobby’s Hospice for the amount of compassionate care they gave Alice in her last days. The Dignams are and will be forever grateful for everything. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave Saint John NB, E2M 2L3. 506-799-5699.
