Obituary of Fay Vivian O’Neill
With great sorrow, the family of Fay Vivian O’Neill announces her passing at Rocmaura nursing home after a lengthy illness on Feb. 9, 2019, surrounded by loved ones. Daughter of the late Albany and Miriam Doucette, Fay was born in 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Saint John, New Brunswick. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Gregg O’Neill. Together, Fay and Gregg have 7 children, 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Fay is survived by her husband Gregg; sons Trent (Monique), John, Shawn; daughters May (Vince) and Erin (Jason). She is also survived by one sister Anne (a.k.a. Anna) of British Columbia. Fay is predeceased by her brothers Bill, Arthur, Lloyd and Phillip; sisters Pauline, Dorothy, Verna and Mary. She is also predeceased by her daughters Trina (Bill), Diane (Jim), and one grandson Patrick. Faith was a mainstay throughout Fay’s life; she took great solace from attending Mass weekly, sometimes daily. Fay was devoted to her family, enthusiastic about gardening, passionate about wildlife and pets (especially cats.) Fay was an eternal optimist who played weekly lotteries and entered every contest that came her way. Fay loved socializing with people, and the years she and Greg operated O’Neill’s Bed and Breakfast provided her with many happy moments and memories. Resting at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12 from 3:00PM-7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Spirit Parish (St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church) 541 Milford Rd, Saint John, NB E2M 4R5 on Wednesday, February 13th at 11:00AM. A reception will follow at the Denis Morris Centre on the Greenhead Rd. Interment will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Rocmaura Foundation or charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com. The family would like to sincerely thank the Rocmaura nursing home staff and management for their excellent care and support.
