Obituary of William Douglas Northrup
It is with heavy hearts the family of William “Bill” Douglas Northrup, beloved husband of Patricia Vaughan Northrup, wish to announce his passing on Wednesday July 1, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sussex, N.B. Bill was a son of Flora Geraldine (Boyd) and the late Ernest Harry Northrup. As a young man, Bill tried his hand at several jobs before he became a licensed Electrician. First, he joined the Canadian Airforce, he worked in the sheetmetal industry, he was an inspector with Fundy Mutual Insurance and then became an Electrician and a member of the Local #502. As an Electrician Bill worked across Canada, the U.S and in Bermuda. Bill was also a supporter of Legion #69, and an avid and competitive poker player. Bill enjoyed the time he spent at his brother's camp and moose hunting. Bill also loved a competitive game of dominos with his Mother and whoever else was up for the challenge. He loved to spend time on his side by side, on the Washademoak Lake with family and friends, and with his beloved dog, Tootsie. Bill and Pat loved to travel taking many trips together over the years. Bill is survived by his mother Flora Geraldine Northrup, of Long Creek, N.B., his beloved wife, Patricia Vaughan Northrup, of Saint John, Daughters, Kelli Dawn Northrup (Tom Lynch), of Didsbury, Alberta, Darci Lynn Northrup (Megan MacDonald), of Saint John,N.B., step daughters, Becky Leigh Vaughan (Marc Gauvin), of Riverview, N.B., Cara Lynn Vaughan (April and Wayne Wilkins), of Woodman’s Point., one step son Jeffrey Ronald Vaughan (Candice Young), of White’s Cove, one brother, George Frederick Ernest Northrup (Susan G.), of Cody’s, N.B., two sisters, Sandra June Hemming, of Toronto, Ontario, and Carol Eileen Price, of Saint John, sisters- in law, Carol Vair (George), of Saint John, and Judith E. Smith, of Saint John, N.B. , his aunt Ethel Boyd of Long Creek, seven grandchildren, Ethan, Landon, and Caleb Curran, Chloe, and Denver Vaughan, Samantha Clark, and Taylor Wilkins, one great grandchild, Henry Clark, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his father, Ernest Harry Northrup, sister, Betty Ann Welton, and her husband Frank Welton, and brothers-in-law Rev. Harold Price and I. Stephen Smith. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday July 7, 2020 at 11:00am in Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home. Donations to the N.B.
