Obituary of Debra Lee Renton
Debbie passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Montreal, Quebec on September 7th, 1952. Debbie was predeceased by her father Ronald. She is survived by her loving husband Gregory, mother Pauline, daughter Laura (Trevor), son Daniel, sister Joni (Laurens), brother Steven (Judy), grandchildren Jenna and Maia, nieces and nephews and many other friends and family. Debbie grew up in Montreal, QC and in Hampton, NB. She loved to dance as a child. Debbie travelled as an au pair in France and had a long and successful career in real estate and hotel management. She went on to own and operate two motels in Saint John with her husband Greg, the Econo Lodge & Suites and the Island View Motel. Debbie taught Sunday School, Junior Choir and C.G.I.T for many years. She was very active in many church communities throughout her life including the New Brunswick Ashram. Debbie volunteered with and was a missionary on Mercy Ships, in Uganda and in Belize. Debbie loved to sing, play piano, play guitar, work in her garden, paint, travel and write. The family would like to thank the staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home for their care and compassion shown to Debbie during her time there. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M2L3, 506-634-1701. Debbie will be cremated according to her wishes. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 from 2:00PM- 4:00PM and 7:00PM-9:00PM. A Memorial Service will held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00AM in Castle "Fallsview" Chapel. A Reception will follow at Castle Funeral Home. A Private family interment will follow the reception in Maces Bay Cemetery. Donations in Debra’s memory can be made to the NB Alzheimer’s Society.
