Obituary of Alice May Lawrence
Our beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend Alice May (White) Lawrence passed away on Tuesday, November 6th at Shannex while surrounded by her 6 children. Alice was the loving wife of the late William Clifford Lawrence (2007). She was born on February 18, 1928 to the late Allen and Primrose (Jones) White. Alice was an amazing mother. She worked at Centracare for many years but she was always a homemaker and mother first. She was a woman of many talents, a self-proclaimed “hairdresser” giving friends and family perms and haircuts. Alice loved dancing- especially going to the Legion dances on Friday Nights, she enjoyed playing bingo and was also an amazing cook, making the best hamburgers and egg sandwiches. Some of Alice’s most fond memories were going out on the boat with her husband, and travelling in their converted van-camper; they were “CBers”. She was an inspiration to her children and her family, always offering a listening ear and she was a resilient breast cancer survivor. Alice was a member of the Legion Branch #69 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Alice will be deeply missed by her children; Deborah (Rowan) Brooks, Marilyn (Richard) Crawford, Thomas (Carolyn) Lawrence, Gary (Sherri) Lawrence, Janet (Mike) Brideau, Susan (Darren) Lawrence; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings; Catherine Johnson (Bill), Ruth Alexander, Wanda Gallant and Ernest “Erin” (June) White; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband William Clifford; daughter Linda Dunn; siblings; Cycil, Basil, Ronnie, Richard, Allen Jr. “Junie” and Emily White. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB, E2M2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held at Castle Funeral Home on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 6PM-9PM and Friday, November 9th from 10AM-1PM. A Legion Service will take place on Thursday, November 8th at 7PM in Castle Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Friday, November 9th 2018 in Castle Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. A Reception will follow at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Alice can be made to Bobby’s Hospice the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com.
