Obituary of Mary “Liz” Elizabeth Poirier
Mary “Liz” Elizabeth (Thibodeau) Poirier was reunited with her soulmate, Elier “Al” Poirier after 40 years apart, on August 25th, 2019. Mary was born on November 5th, 1925 in Saint John, NB to the late Henry and Gertrude (Leger) Thibodeau of Randolph Saint John. Liz was a truly devoted wife and mother. She had a very special relationship with Al, they were so in-love and when he passed away in 1979, she vowed to wait for him until they were reunited again in Heaven. Liz was a great dart player; she played in tournaments all over the country. She made many friends from dart tournaments. Liz always did a signature jump with each shot, and one of her proudest moments was when she got to meet the great John Lowe. She started playing darts through her life-long membership with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2. Liz also enjoyed watching tennis, she watched all the tournaments and knew all the players, tennis could keep her busy for hours. Liz will be greatly missed by her sons; Raymond Poirier, Allan Poirier and John (Wendy) Poirier all of Saint John, brother George (Margaret) Thibodeau of Saint John, sister Margaret (Eloi) Robichaud of Saint John, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband Al Poirier, brothers; Simon and Leo, sisters; Pauline; (Lorenzo) Hachey, Leona (Jack) Gallant, Yvonne, Genivieve “Jenny” (Patrick) Roche, daughter in-law Kathy (Allan) Poirier, grandson Christopher (John & Wendy), and Charles Theriault- Yvonne. A big thank you to Kim and staff of 7th Floor at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their love and care. They took great care of our Mother and it won’t be forgotten. – Raymond, Allan and John. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M2L3 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28th from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM- 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 29th, 2019 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, with a reception at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Centre afterwards. Donations in Liz’s memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
