Obituary of James Robert Thompson
It is with great sadness the family of James “Jim” Robert Thompson announce his passing after a lengthy illness at home on January 27th, 2019. He was the loving husband of Linda (Smith) Thompson. Jim was born on July 3rd, 1951 to the late James Edward and Shirley (Williams) Thompson in Saint John, NB. Jim was a long-time resident of Grand Bay -Westfield, he spent most of his life there. Jim was a long-time member of the Masonic Carleton Union Lodge #8 and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #22 in Grand Bay – Westfield. He will be dearly missed by his wife Linda, sons; David (Jennifer) and Ernie (Lindsay) Thompson, brothers; Ernest (Sarah) and Jack Thompson, father in-law Arthur Smith, brother in-law Larry (Sherry) Smith, four Grandchildren; Taylor, Logan, Madalyn and Myles, and two nieces Jennifer and Ashley. The family would like to express great thanks to the Extra Mural Nurses, with a special thank you to Ralph Johnson. Thank you to, Dr. Ian Grant and Dr. Arthur Kristofferson, Nurse Mary Profit, as well as the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital for the exceptional care given to Jim over the past 40 years. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M2L3 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30th, from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM. The Carleton Union Lodge #8 will hold a Masonic Memorial Service on Wednesday, January 30th at 6:30PM in Castle Funeral Home. A Royal Candian Legion Tribute Service will follow at 7:00PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 31st at 1:00PM in Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Reception will be held after burial at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Jim can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com.
