Obituary of Stephen White
The family of Stephen “Butchie” Wayne White wish to announce his sudden passing which occurred at his residence on Sunday, February 3rd, 2019. Born in Saint John, NB on December 16, 1950, he was the son of the late James and Ella (Laskey) White. The youngest of 14 children – Steve was a proud west-sider who had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who may need it. At one time, he loved to fish & hunt but always enjoyed tinkering in his garage while working on his or his friends vehicles and liked watching NASCAR, old westerns & war movies. Steve worked at the Irving Pulp & Paper Mill for 32 years, retiring 13 years ago and eventually he then took up a stool at Bay Industrial Supplies voicing his opinions with the boys. As we all know, Steve loved to tell stories … tales of growing up in the west side and how the times have changed or his time working at the Mill and the pranks he and his co-workers would pull on one another and things that had taken place there over the years. We probably all have heard a fishing or hunting story or two – and about the one (or two) that got away with either sport. Most of all, Steve loved a good story, getting one over on a friend or great joke - especially a Newfie joke. He always laughed when one was told and laughed when he was telling ... Steve is survived by daughters; Angela and Andrea White, brothers; Robert, Douglas, Norman, Bruce (Diana), sisters; Ruth Cruise, Doris Edgett, Dorothy Robichaud (Dan), Evelyn Dagenais, Jean White, Phyllis (Alvin) Edgett, sister in law; Lillian White, Grand-children; James R. White, Matthew White, Chloe and Gavin, great grand-daughters; Jade and Olivia and several nieces and nephews. Steve will also be remembered by Doreen Robichaud and many longtime friends. In addition to his parents, Steve is pre-deceased by brothers; George, Donald and David, infant brothers; James and Raymond, sister in laws; Joan, Libby, Linda, brother in laws; Richard Dagenais, Peter Cruise, and Peter McMulkin. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M2L3. 506-634-1701. Visitation will take place Thursday February 7th, from 6-8 PM and Friday, February 8th from 10 A.M – 11 A.M. A funeral service will take place at Castle Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 8th at 11 A.M. with a reception to follow at Castle Funeral Home Fallsview Reception Centre. Interment will take place at a later date from Greenwood Cemetery. Donations in memory of Steve can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com
