Obituary of Malcolm Leland MacAfee
“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” Prov. 3:6 Malcolm Leland MacAfee, beloved husband of Frances (McLaughlin) Gillies MacAfee, passed away peacefully at his home in Lorneville, N.B., July 25th, 2017. Born in Saint John, N.B., July 28th, 1922, he was the son of the late Stewart and Grace (Wilson) MacAfee. Malcolm was also predeceased by his first wife, Doris (MacGorman) MacAfee, and brother, Raymond McAfee. Survived by his two daughters, Marlene MacAfee (David) of Cambridge-Narrows, N.B. and Gayle Murray (Eric) of Apex, North Carolina; grandchildren, Joshua, Benjamin, and Caroline; loving sister, Elva Janes of Saint John; sister-in-law, Winnifred McAfee of Toronto. Malcolm had many nephews and nieces whom he loved, and they loved him dearly in return. Malcolm is also survived by step-children, Cindy Gillies (Len) and Irene “Nenie” (Kirk) Gillies of Halifax; step-grandchildren Robin Strug (Jeffrey), Jennifer Sabol, and Dr. Saul Offman (Kim). Mac served in World War II as a member of the RCAF, and was employed with CN Rail until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Victoria Street Baptist Church when they amalgamated with Main Street Baptist (now RiverCross Church). Mac served as a teller and usher for over 45 years. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Castle Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will take place, on his 95th birthday, Friday, July 28, 2017 at 12:00 noon from Castle Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at Lorneville Cemetery. A reception will follow at Lorneville Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lorneville Seaview Cemetery, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
