Obituary of James Price
It is with heavy hearts that the family of James “Jim” Allen Price announce his passing at home surrounded by his family on July 18th, 2017 following a short battle with cancer. Jim was born in Saint John on November 27th, 1959, to Frank and Doris (Byers) Price. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. Jim was employed for 26 years at SMT/Acadian Lines, and after the company closed in 2012, he started his “second” career, one that he thoroughly enjoyed with Scholten’s Landscaping. A good athlete, Jim was successful at any sport he chose. As a kid at the Carleton Community Centre, he played lacrosse, ball hockey and basketball. He was a talented shortstop for the Carleton Squires of the Saint John Intermediate Softball League, and was a skilled centre for various teams in the Metro Gents and City Gents Hockey League. He played Darts for #2 Branch Legion, & enjoyed a good game of golf. He was a die-hard Red Sox fan, a fierce Steelers fan, and always cheered for the Flyers. Jim will be remembered by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary-Lou, his son Tony, and “Grampy’s Princess”, Payton, his sisters Linda Kinney, Susan Worden (Brian), Shelley Colwell (Dale) and his brother Dale. Jim will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Doris and Frank. The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to all of Jim’s friends who visited him at home and kept him entertained. It lifted our spirits to know you were thinking of us. We would also like to thank those who made it possible for Jim to be cared for at home: Dr. Stephen Myers, the staff of the Extra Mural Hospital, especially Nancy, whose support at a very difficult time helped make Jim’s transition much easier to bear for the family. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM and Friday, July 21, 2017 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM. Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00AM at Castle Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue or to the Children’s Indoor Play Park, Church of the Resurrection, Grand Bay-Westfield would be appreciated by the family.
