Obituary of Bernice Nellie Melvin
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Bernice Melvin, wife and best friend to the late Garfield (Garnie) Melvin of Gault Road, Saint John, N.B. which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 11, 2017. Bernice was born in Hoyt, N.B. on April 19, 1927 to the late Archibald George Worden and Hilda Bernice Worden (Byers). Bernice was a warm and extremely generous person. She was a faithful and active parishioner of St. George's - St. Jude's Anglican Church. She loved quilting, sewing, knitting, baking, and crossword puzzles and was always ready for a game of cards. Bernice had a love for knitting. Over the years, we all have enjoyed her handmade mittens, socks, sweaters and slippers. Bernice also volunteered her knitting skills for the Mitts & Caps Program for Preemies at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Bernice loved her family who were always paramount in her mind. Bernice is survived by her two sons: Bill Melvin (Sue) of Quispamsis, Wayne (Brenda) of Stratford, Ontario, one daughter, Charlene Williams of Saint John. Eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bernice is also survived by her brother Norman Worden (Lois), Thomas Worden (Lynn) and her sister, Beverley Shannon (Greg). Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her siblings: Willard Worden, Clyde Worden, Alberta Knorr (Leo), George Worden, Edward Worden, Rose Densmore (Doug) and Douglas Worden. The family wishes to extend their utmost gratitude to the staff at Serenity Cove Special Care Home. Your hard work, compassion and exemplary care did not go unnoticed. These past few weeks Bernice was met with such kindness and compassion by the staff of 4B North, Saint John Regional Hospital. You are amazing!
