Obituary of Shirley Elaine Logan

The passing of Shirley Elaine Logan, nee Pond, occurred at the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home on October 20, 2020. She was 78 years old. She passed peacefully surrounded by her children. She was the daughter of the late Phyllis and Everard Pond, from Taxis River, NB. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Griffin (Duane), Stuart Logan (Tracy), Wesley Logan (Denise), Larry Logan (Wendy), Barbara Logan (Scott), and Lee Logan. Also survived by one very special sister Emily Hunter (Merle), brothers Murray Pond, Fred Pond (Pat), Wendell Pond (Edith), Robert Pond (Ann), Dean Pond (Joyce), Clifton Pond (Betty Lou), Lloyd Pond (Alice), Donald Pond (Kay), Ronald Pond (Debbie). Also survived by sisters-in-law Shirley Pond, Roxanne Pond, Shirley Parker, and Yvonne Jones (Kent). She leaves behind precious grandchildren, Justin Griffin (Lindsay), Jamin Griffin (Jennifer), Mitchell Logan (Nicole), Corey Logan (Jocelyn), Jessica Logan, Everard Logan (Kensey), Brandon Logan (Erin), Stefanie Hatfield (Darrell), Finn LeBlanc, Derek Strowbridge, David Strowbridge. Shirley was also a great grandmother to MacKenzie and Myles Hatfield, Charlotte, Isla and Jessa Griffin, and Harrison Logan. She leaves behind many special nieces and nephews as well. Each held a special place in her heart. She will always be remembered for the love she gave to her children and family, always putting them first. She was a member of the River Valley Lyons Club, and enjoyed fundraising and gardening with her friend Wanda Gallant. She loved her bingo, scratchies, and coconut cream pie from the Coffee Mill. As well as her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George Ralph Logan, brothers Ernest Pond, Everard Pond Jr., Ivan Pond, sister-in-law Alice Pond, her precious grandson Benjamin Logan, and her nephews Wayne Pond, Kevin Pond, and Lane Pond. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. As per Shirley’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private family service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Carleton Kirk Recreation Program, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
