Obituary of Gordon Robert Dean
It is with heavy hearts the family of Gordon Robert Dean announce his passing on January 2nd 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was the loving spouse Nancy Haggerty for 22.5 years. Gordon was born on June 28th, 1952 to the late John and Addy “Leoda” (Cogswell) Dean in Debert, Nova Scotia. Gordon was an intelligent man. He loved to read and had amazing concentration while doing so, nothing could distract him from a good book. He also had a photographic memory, so he would recall paragraphs, quotes and pages from all the books he read in an instant. Gordon was an artist; he loved to paint, especially mountain scenes; he enjoyed wood working, and he wrote beautiful poems for his loved ones – for anniversaries or weddings. When he wasn’t reading or creating things you could find him in the woods; hunting and fishing from spring until winter. The thing that Gordon loved most of all was his family, he was very passionate about caring for his children and loved ones his entire life. He was a truly amazing man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. You could sit all night with Gordon and he would never tell the same story or joke- he just loved to talk and spend time with his family and friends. In his career he worked at Point Lepreau; where he was instrumental in helping to improve processes and in fact a process was named after him, called the Deano-Matic. In his later years he worked as Clam Digger in the Bay of Fundy. Gordon will be missed by his spouse Nancy, children; William Marratt (Tina), Jeremy Dean (Melissa), Richard “Ritchie” Dean (Patti), Jesse Dean (Vanessa), Jean Dean, Sharon Ferron (Glen), Norma Lake (Rick), Tammy Mazerolle (Leo), brothers; George “Billy” Dean, Dana Dean (Cathy), Bruce “Nicky” Dean (Gloria), sister Crystal Dean (Jay), many grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Robin “Boo Boo” Dean, Johnny Dean and sister Gale Dean. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. Keeping with Gordon’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a late date. Donations in memory of Gordon can be made to the Charlotte County Cancer Society.
