I have very fond memories of my (Cecil Beesley) father's cousin, Murray. Murray was always so outgoing and gregarious to my father's more reserved nature. Murray was always like a breath of fresh air. I'm so thankful to have spent some time with him at Crystal beach a few years back while I was visiting from Toronto. Such a wonderful summer of reminiscing. Please accept my condolences. I just loved Murray. Deborah Beesley (Toronto)

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff at Port Saint John, please accept our sincere condolences on Murray's passing. He was always present in being such a positive and giving member of our Cruise Meet and Greet network. A true ambassador and a true friend of our Port community who will be long remembered! His strong support and participation in the Seafarer's Mission was key in helping the men and women who arrived in our Port really feel welcomed while they visited their "home away from home" at the Tilley Lane facility. On a personnel note, I will always remember Murray's good nature and friendship as he so willingly shared stories with me about his time with CP and my father-in-law Bill Pettigrew. Murray will be missed but always remembered.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Wendy, Wanda & family. My parents; Bill & Edith Pettigrew were life long friends with Murray & Dottie for over 50 years. Murray would always say jokingly that he knew me before I was even born. I have such good memories of many a dinner party in Montreal at our house filled with laughter & amusing stories. Alas with Murray’s passing, it is the end of an era. God Bless.

Murray has been missed at Hillcrest in recent years. He was always enthusiastic about ministry for our Lord Jesus, especially through music and volunteering. We know he really missed having Dottie by his side, and that they are now happily reunited in glory for eternity with Christ. We count Murray and Dot among the leaders who helped establish and grow Hillcrest in the early years of ministry to the west side. Those early leaders laid a solid foundation for ongoing ministry, and the fruits of their labours continue growing at Hillcrest and blessing our community. We miss Murray and Dot, but we are happy for them . We pray for peace of heart and mind for Wendy and Mike, Wanda and Paul, and all the extended family, as they take comfort in the knowledge that their parents earthly struggles are past and they now share in our Lord's blessing of eternal life.

What a privilege for me to be able to minister to Murray at Kennebec Manor over the last months of his life. He loved the old hymns right to the end, and would bravely try to sing, even when he became very weak. He was such a lovely gentleman, and he told me one time that he had his funeral all planned out - good for him! He wasn't afraid to think about going to be with the Lord. We will surely miss him at Kennebec Manor. Rev Brenda Schyf

You found me out of the clear blue after my daddy died. You made a trip all the way to Florida to visit. I feel in love with you and wished I had met you sooner. I know Dottie was our link. I am sorry I never met her. You came again for a visit but had to return quickly as you got sick. Jeff and I were thrilled to have spent your 90 birthday with you driving all the way to NB and stopping to get passports along the way. Even little Leo enjoyed your company and I know you loved holding him. He remains our little love bug. You told me then and I hear you now how happy you are with our Lord and Dottie. We will miss you Until our turn. I know you are singing!

My sincere condolences on your Dad's passing. I first met Murray in May of 1969 when Freeman Pettit (my cousin) in my home town of Kentville made arrangements for me to room with his mother when, at the young age of 20, I moved to Saint John to work with NBTel after graduating from Acadia. I probably only talked to Murray 20 or so times since then, but when I did I felt we met every day, and he was my best friend. That was the kind of person he was. The last time I saw him was at the Imperial theater a few years back, and it was the same kind of talk as if we had just been together the day before. He was a fine gentleman, and a person and name that I will always remember as a friend. My thoughts are with you. Robert

Wendy, Wanda & families...Sorry to hear the news. We were at the Imperial before Christmas and wondered if Murray was still able to do any ushering but didn't get a chance to talk to the two Westsiders that were present that evening and would have been in the know. They could have brought us up to speed on Murray's health. Didn't realize he was at Kennebec. Besides our association @ CP Rail and with Kenny and Sally, Murray and I were involved in various musical events over the years(Choral Ensembles, SJ Opera Co. and Canada Games to name a few). We are sending prayers and condolences. The Obit is lovely and a great tribute to your Dad.

Dear Wendy & Wanda, & Family, We were very saddened to learn of Murray’s passing and extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences for your loss. Over the years we had many interactions with Murray at many community events and organizations. He loved people and enjoyed being involved. We are fortunate to have so many fond memories of Murray and Dottie. When Elizabeth’s mother died in 1995, Murray and Dottie jokingly adopted Elizabeth as their honorary daughter. They would always greet her that way since. Our caring thoughts and prayers are with you all as you reflect on your father’s life and the man6 contributions he made to his faith, his family, his community, and his work. Most sincerely,

Wendy, Wanda and families. We were saddened to learn of the death of Murray. We have fond memories of him from times of worship in various churches in the greater Saint John region. He was an enthusiastic singer and had a wonderful sense of humour. We recall his volunteerism and service to the community. We also remember his devotion to Dottie, especially during her times of weakness. We are grateful that Murray was following the Lord Jesus who said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me though he die yet shall he live. " John 11:25 We are remembering you in prayer.
