Obituary of James Duke Flood
FLOOD- James Duke of Rothesay, husband of Rhoda Ann (Roderick), son of the late F. Josephine (Higgins) & Harry W. Flood passed away at Rocmaura Nursing Home March 9, 2018. Born Jan. 26, 1937, Jim was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and in former years at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Besides his wife of 57yrs, he is survived by; son, James Roderick (Rod) (Diane Beaulieu), grandchildren Nigel (Alysha Rioux) and Kaylee (Linus Harling) of Sweden, brother, Michael (Sandra Geldart Tingley), Fredericton, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by brothers Dr. Harry Jr. & Richard, sisters Eleanor & Elizabeth, special sister-in-law Kathy Roderick (1948-1973), Archbishop Wm. Mark Duke, of Saint John and Vancouver (cousin & namesake) . Jim was a faithful adorer of the Most Blessed Sacrament at the Cathedral who celebrates 26 years of continuous adoration. 3rd degree K. of C. and Legion of Mary Auxiliary, St. Jerome's Church, Largo, FL. Jim was 4th generation of John Flood & Sons (1961) Ltd., Canada’s oldest construction company. A board member of the Saint John Construction Association. Member of Saint John Board of Trade, Renforth Lions Club, Finance Committee of O.L.P.H. Church Rothesay Building Fund, St. Patrick's Society, RKYC and Saint John Power Boat Club. Founder and Honorary Commodore of the Renforth Boat Club. Honorable mention to Bishop Emeritus J. Edward Troy, the Priests of the Diocese of Saint John & Sisters of Charity IC, Management & Staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home. Special appreciation to Diane Beaulieu, Dr. Alana Cook & staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Linda Thom and Lawrence Bastarache for providing outstanding care. Prayers of thanksgiving to Jim’s substitute adorers at the Cathedral; Art Chaisson, Rose Tan, Marjorie Phillips, Lorne Enright, Charles Wills and Rose Riley. Spiritual-care providers: Ann (Keating) Cotone, Eleanor Black, Larry McGivern, Patricia Hogan and Sean McNulty. Daily comfort was given by certified Therapy Dog “Kenny” (Flood) Resting at Castle Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB with visitation from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8 pm Tuesday March 13, 2018. Mass of the Christian Burial to be held at 12:10pm at the Cathedral on Wednesday March 14, 2018. Interment to follow Mass at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
