Obituary of Charles O’Donnell
It is with great sadness that the family of Charles “Charlie” O’Donnell announce his sudden passing at Carleton Kirk Lodge on November 28th, 2018. Born July 28th, 1939 in Devon, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Keene) O’Donnell. In his younger years, Charlie worked in House Services at NBTel and later at Hayward and Warwick’s. Charlie was honored to be a 4th Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus and took pride in playing the role of “Judas” in the Easter Passion play. He was a loving, caring and gentle man. Charlie was always looking for the best in everyone and made it his mission to make you laugh, including creative nicknames. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed his deep-sea fishing trips to P.E.I with his twin brother, Art. On St. Paddy’s Day you could catch Charlie uptown, sporting his green beard and showing off his Irish roots. Charlie is survived by his brother, Albert of Ab., and sisters; Winnie Hovey of Ont., and Janie Porter of B.C.; several nieces and nephews, special niece Linda Shea, extended family; Colleen and Donald Durant. He is pre-deceased by brothers; Art, Mike, Pat and Gerry, sisters; Josie Forestell and Mary Gerow. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 3rd at Castle Funeral Home from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held from Castle Funeral Home Fallsview Chapel on Tuesday December 4th at 10 A.M. Burial will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow at Castle Fallsview Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
