Obituary of Clarence James Ogilvie
On February 27th 2019, at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing, Clarence James “Jim/Sonny” Ogilvie passed away and was reunited with his dear wife Annie. Jim was born on October 12th, 1924 in Haddam, CT to the late Ottie and Ida Belle (Spence) Ogilvie. Jim began his career working at the railroad as an engineer. When WWII broke out, Jim enlisted to serve his country in the Air Force. After the war he went on to receive his stationary engineer degree, re-enlisted during peace time and served on bases from Whitehorse in the Yukon to Zweibrucken in Germany, and after 10 years settled back in Grand Bay –Westfield with Annie, where he grew up as a child. Jim was known for being a fantastic finish carpenter and segmented woodturning journeyman- creating all kinds of beautiful bowls, vases and plates for friends and family. He was also involved in the local archery club for a number of years. Jim is survived by his sons Richard D. Ogilvie (Lise) of Grandbay-Westfield, NB and Robert J. Ogilvie (Lynette) of Pefferlaw, ON.; 3 grandchildren Anthony Ogilvie, Jae Ogilvie (Angela Galbraith) of Fredericton, NB, and Robin Ogilvie (Kery-Ann Ogilvie) of Halifax, NS; 4 great-grand daughters London, Piper, Georgia, and Grace Ogilvie, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his wife Annie Ogilvie, brother John Ogilvie and sister Evelyn Stevens. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 1:00pm- 2:00pm. A Memorial Service will take place at Castle Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at the “Fallview” Reception Centre. Interment will take place at a later date in Hatfield’s Point Cemetery. Donations in Jim’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer society, Heart and Stroke foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of one’s choice.
