Obituary of George Edward Irvine
It is with great sadness, the family of George Edward Irvine would like to announce his passing on November 2, 2017 at the SJRH. He was born on March 23, 1934 in Saint John NB to the late Joseph and Esther (Shaw) Irvine. In George’s younger years he was in the Navy on the HMCS Labrador and Quebec as leading Seaman. He was a trade mason and bricklayer and was involved in the Saint John Building Trades; he also worked as a Labour Relations Manager and was a past President of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Local #1. In his spare time he was an avid hunter, historian and reader. George especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Miller) Irvine, daughter Sana Nearing (Mark) of Nerepis, son David Irvin (Katie Melvin) of Grand Bay Westfield, six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. George is the last surviving member of his immediate family; he was predeceased by his parents and 7 brothers and sisters. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5th at St. Luke’s Anglican Church from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM- 8:00PM and on Monday, November 6th from 1:00PM- 2:00PM. A Funeral Service will take on Monday, November 6th at 2:00 PM at St. Luke’s Anglican Church. A reception will follow the Funeral Service at St. Luke’s Anglican Church. Interment will take place after the reception at Greenwood Cemetery. Donations N.B Heart & Stroke, St. Luke’s Anglican Church or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
