Obituary of Donald Francis Melanson

Donald Francis Melanson, beloved husband of Shirley Melanson passed away peacefully at the SJRH on Wednesday, January 31st 2018. Born on July 19 1935, in Saint John NB to the late Angus and Elda Melanson. He worked for his father since he was 16 years old at Angus Melanson LTD, after his mother's passing he took over as president of the company. Donald was a devoted and active member of St. Rose Parish, member of Denis Morris Community Center for many years, and member of the Local 946 International Union of Operating Engineers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and reading construction magazines. He will be dearly missed by his wife, son Mark (Stacey) of SJ, grandchildren; Cameron and Jordan, sister Annette McManus (Malcolm) Maguire, sisters in law; Marion Luttrell (Floyd), Sharon Melanson, and Melodie Melanson, nephews; David, Paul, Brian, Gregory, Jeffery, and Father Danny Melanson, nieces; Lesley, Heather, Michelle and Angela. Donald is predeceased by his parents, son Jamie Donald Melanson, brothers Bobby, Eddie and Roger. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 4th from 2:00PM-4:00PM & 6:00PM-8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, February 5th at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
