Obituary of William John Barrett
With great sadness and appreciation for a life well lived, the family of William John “Buddy” Barrett, loving husband of 56 years to the late Ruth Della (Bent) Barrett, announces his passing on April 13, 2019, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on October 18, 1934, he was the son of the late William and Florence Barrett. Buddy worked at the Atlantic Sugar Refinery as a Rigger for 42 years retiring in 1992. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 and a lifelong member of the Adanac Club, enjoying; cards, bowling, pool, and darts. He won many city and provincial dart tournaments and represented NB across Canada. He will be missed by his son; Wayne (Sandra), daughters; Judy, Debbie (Randy Blanchard) and Linda Edison (Chuck), grandchildren; Danny Lanteigne (Shauna), Leanna Talaber (Bobby), Jeffrey Barrett, Amanda and Shelby Edison, Melissa and Shawn Barrett, great grand-children; Madeline and Anthony Lanteigne, several nieces and nephews and his companion, Charlie the dog. He was pre-deceased by his daughter; Karen Lanteigne (Vernon), wife, Ruth, brother; Kenneth “Butch” Barrett and sisters; Betty Whitaker and Ruth Martin. We want to thank (Karen), Vernon, Linda and Chuck for welcoming Dad into their homes. The family would like to extend a special thank you to nurses and staff of MICU, 4CN, 3CS from the Saint John Regional Hospital. Your kindness and care shown to Buddy is very much appreciated by his family. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, (506) 634-1701. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16th, from 2 PM – 8 PM. A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, April 17th at 10:30 AM from Castle Funeral Home Fallsview Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #69, 714 Wilson St., Saint John, NB.
