Obituary of Rosemary Agnes Lahey

With sadness but appreciation for a life well lived, the family of Rosemary Agnes (Trainor) Lahey announce her passing which occurred peacefully at home on July 23, 2018. Born July 31, 1938 in Saint John, Rosemary was pre-deceased by her husband Edward Lahey and her parents, William and Rose (Collins) Trainor. Rosemary graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in 1956 and attended Marianopolis College. She worked briefly as a legal and medical secretary before dedicating herself to raising her family. Rosemary is survived by her son, Michael of Edmonton and her daughter Catherine of Saint John and her brother Joseph (Kathy) Trainor of Saint John. A supporter of numerous charitable organizations, Rosemary was active in local chapters of the Multicultural Association, the Victorian Order of Nurses, Canadian Cancer Society Children’s Camp and St. Vincent’s Alumnae Association. Her greatest devotion, however, was to her family and friends by whom she will be forever remembered for her loving and generous spirit, her enduring strength and her many quiet acts of kindness. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, NB (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 26 from 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 27 from St. Rose of Lima Church at 11 AM. For those who wish, donations to Romero House or Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
