Obituary of Evelyn Beatrice Amero
Evelyn Beatrice Amero of Saint John, NB passed away on February 25th, 2020 at the age of 96. Born in Doucetville, N.S on April 1, 1923, she was the daughter of Albert and Annie (Robichaud) Amero. Evelyn is survived by her nieces; Sandra and Shirley Olsen and several other nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her brothers Delbert, Emil, Wilbert (Evelyn) and Pat, sisters Doris (Pat), Clare (Ron), Laura (Paul), Ella (Howard) and Pauline (Leo). Evelyn worked for a number of years as a sales clerk at MRA, and then the Woolworth Company where she retired at 63. Evelyn was an avid knitter for many years, selling hats, mitts and sweaters in the City Market and in her later years donating the clothing to the Empty Stocking Fund and other charities. Evelyn also enjoyed a bit of travelling in her “golden years”, venturing with two nieces to Europe and later with a group of seniors to Israel. She enjoyed good health and remained ‘active’ until the last couple years of her life. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Our Lady of Assumption Church on Monday, March 2nd, 2020 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery with a reception afterwards at the Assumption Centre. Donations in Evelyn’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Our Lady of Assumption Church Building Fund, or the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com
