After a life well lived, we announce the passing of our loving wife and devoted mother, Betty Lou (Belyea) Short Palmer, who left us on October 2, 2018. She is also survived by her sister Bernice (Jack) Morris and brother Mansel (Samantha) Belyea, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Mansel and Kathleen (Nee Booker) Belyea. Betty grew up in Morrisdale, NB. She attended Grand Bay High School, later graduated from Modern Business College. Her early career was with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Saint John, later retiring after several years of service from Workers Compensation Board. A very special woman, whose heart was always filled with kindness and generosity, Betty was extremely devoted to her family. She took great pride in her baking, and making Christmas a special time of the year for everyone, preparing months in advance all those special treats we all looked forward to eating. Nanny always had cookies or snacks ready for her grandchildren throughout their growing years and she and Papa welcomed their visits with open arms. Betty’s family would like to thank her special friend and caregiver Patty Hamilton, also Bayshore Home Care and Bobby Hospice for their support and care. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M2L3 (506)634-1701. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5th 2018, from 1PM-3PM. A Memorial Service will follow in Castle “Fallsview” Chapel at 3PM. Interment will then take place St. Peter’s Cemetery in Woodmans Point, NB.
