Obituary of Laurenna Alberta Shea

With a life well lived - in her 101st year, Laurenna Alberta Shea passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Parkland, Saint John. Laurenna was the wife of the late Clement E. Shea and daughter of the late J. Medley and Laurenna (Reed) McKiel. Laurenna was born on August 20, 1920, in Fairville, West Saint John, where she resided all her life. She attended Fairville School, and was a graduate of Saint John High School and Modern Business College. After graduation Laurenna was employed with T.S Simms, Bank of Canada, and eventually retired from UNBSJ-Ward Chipman Library. Laurenna was a lifelong member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where she took an active part in many women’s church groups. She was also active in Girl Guides as a leader and District Commissioner, and a lifetime member of the United Empire Loyalist Association, NB Branch. Laurenna loved her family above all else. She loved all the family gatherings, celebrating special occasions, holidays, car drives and in the past, extensive travelling. She was an avid reader, enjoyed meals out, and her very happy place at the family cottage in Haggarty’s Cove. Laurenna will be dearly missed by: Her children: Cherrill Shea (Carl Aron) of Highland Beach, Florida, Suzanne Hartlen (Ralph) of Saint John, Patricia Shea of Saint John, and John Shea (Paula) of Grand Bay-Westfield; her sister Jacquelyn Turner (late Robert) of Brampton, ON; five grandchildren: Meghan Hamilton (Geoff), Ryan Hartlen (Sarah), Brandon D’Souza (Chantal), and Keeley and Kaitlyn Shea; two great-grandchildren: Max and Shea Hamilton, and three nephews. Laurenna is predeceased by her parents Medley and Laurenna, husband Clement, brother William L. McKiel and sister Madeline Evans. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, (506)-634-1701. Due to COVID 19, a Private Family Memorial Service will be held from Church of the Good Shepherd. Interment will be held in Spring of 2021, in Church of the Good Shepherd Cemetery. Donations in memory of Laurenna may be made to CNIB, IWK or a charity of your choice.
