Obituary of Sandra Harquail

Laura Alexandra Harquail (nee MacDougall), 78, of Saint John N.B. passed away peacefully on Saturday April 27th, 2024, at Bobby’s Hospice, close to her beloved family home and Assumption Church both meant so much to Laura. The family is profoundly saddened by her loss but take solace knowing that Laura is reunited with her loving husband of 51 years Raymond Joseph Harquail, parents Alexander Duncan MacDougall and Laura (Walker) MacDougall as well as her near life-long stepfather Duncan MacArthur.

Laura was born and raised in Inverness Cape Breton, Nova Scotia by loving parents Alexander, Laura, Duncan and siblings Hugh (Anne) MacDougall, and Alec (Margaret) MacDougall whom Laura liked to care for. Her caring nature eventually led to a career in nursing. Laura moved to Saint John N.B. after completing her studies where she met her adoring husband Raymond while taking care of him in Hospital.

Caring, loving, and nurturing are three words that Laura (lovingly called Sandra or Sandy by family and friends) was the embodiment of. Sandra’s beautiful soul was evident to everyone that met her.

Love, nurture and care were hallmarks for Sandra’s parenting which she showered on her 3 loving sons and grandchildren; Kelly Harquail, Scott (Vibhuti) Harquail, and Kyle (Sarah) Harquail, all of Saint John, five precious grandchildren; Jamie Zoe, Andrew, Isabelle, and Emma.

Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Castle funeral home from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church at 12:00pm. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will be held at Castle Funeral Home following the service. Online condolences can be made at www. Castlefh.ca
