Obituary of Marilyn Galbraith

It is with broken hearts the family announces the passing of Marilyn Galbraith on Thursday July 3, 2025, at Hospice in Fredericton with her family by her side. Born in Burton, N.B. June 5,1940, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Clem Banks and Elsie (Hoben) Banks, and beloved wife to the late Lawrence V. Galbraith.

Marilyn was a devoted educator throughout her life. She began her career teaching at a school for children with Cerebral Palsy. After taking time to raise her family as a stay-at-home mother, she opened a home-based kindergarten, which she ran with love and creativity for 13 years. Later, she returned to the classroom as a supply teacher in the public school system. Marilyn had a deep love for the outdoors. She cherished time spent camping and canoeing with her husband, Lawrence, and their family, creating lasting memories in nature. She especially loved being surrounded by her grandchildren, often coming up with fun imaginative activities to make their time together special.

Marilyn is survived by three sons; David (Patricia) Galbraith of Alberta, Danny (Dreama) Galbraith, of Fredericton, Brent (Kim) Galbraith, of Fredericton, one daughter; Debbie (Stephen) Blackmore, of Fredericton, ten grandchildren; Michael (Jacquie), Amanda (Samuel), Scott (Abby), Sarah, Allan (Jillian), Nelson (Bethany), David, Emily, Kyle, and Allison, 9 great grandchildren; Hudson, Levi, Wesley, MacKenna, Vivian, Audrey, Evelyn, Kyson, and Melania, two sisters; Marie Banks, of Lincoln, N.B., Gail (Ernest) McGillvray, of Fredericton, N.B., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
