Obituary of Kenneth Eugene Galbraith
On Friday, May 30, 2025, Kenneth E. Galbraith of 4 Caitlin Court, Saint John, NB was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour while surrounded by his family. Ken was the loving husband for 59 years to Judith A (Taylor) Galbraith. Born in Saint John on June 18, 1943, he was the eldest son of the late Verdun C. Galbraith, and Edith A (Reid) Galbraith.
A graduate of Saint John Vocational School, Ken worked for a number of years with T.S. Simms Company moving on to work for Galbraith Construction. In November of 1980 he joined the City of Saint John as the Administrative Assistant to the Mayor and Council, and over the next 23 years held positions which led him to Manager of Public Affairs and Protocol from which he retired in January of 2003.
A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Ken is survived by his wife Judy and their daughters Susan and her husband Bruce Roach, Paula Galbraith and her husband Ian Ross as well as the delight of his life his grandsons Ken and his wife Stephanie Galbraith, Adrian Roach (Julia Adamson) and his special girls Melissa Roach (Jacob Cooke), Kaylee and her husband Colin MacDonald and his great grandsons twins Cooper and Felix Galbraith.
Ken also leaves behind his sisters Sandra (George) Gillispie, Gloria Nunn, Judith Irvine and Marlene (Thomas) Grinton, and his brothers Carmon and Clement Galbraith. He was deeply loved by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and several cousins as well as his sister-in -law Myrtelle Speight, brother- in-law Don Taylor (Margaret McCullay) and special friend Carole Taylor.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of 4B South at the Saint John Regional Hospital and Bobby’s Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue with visitation on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral will be held at Castle Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 11:00am. Interment will be held at the Lorneville Seaview Cemetery. Reception to follow at Lorneville Meeting Room. Donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.ca.
