Obituary of Joe Sears
It is with broken hearts the family announce the passing of Joseph Edward Sears on Monday May 5, 2025, at his residence. Born in Saint John, on August 1, 1952, Joe was a son of the late Albert Edward Sears and Mary Carmel (Taylor) Sears, and beloved husband of Donna Stark.
Joe is survived by his wife; Donna, one brother; Albert Leslie (Cathy Lifford) Sears, of Saint John, four sisters; Marjorie (Bubba) LeBlanc, Heather (Chris Hanson) Worden, Tina Sears (John) Steen, and Lou (Wes) Burgess, all living in Saint John, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Albert Edward and Mary Carmel Sears, one brother; Donald Roy Sears, one sister; Alva Ida Sears, and one niece; Dawn Finnamore.
Joe was a hard worker, starting out packing fish and cleaning cars and then securing a job with CP Rail and gaining the knowledge and experience as a mechanic working on the big engines he loved from childhood. He loved the many family get-togethers and could be found at the family homestead most weekends manning the tunes and the horseshoe pit and always enjoyed the annual get-togethers with the birthday boys. Joe worked hard and played hard. He was a proud member of number 2 Legion for many years and never met a shuffleboard he didn't like. He also enjoyed being a member of Legion 69, no longer playing shuffleboard, pool and darts, but enjoying catching up with old friends and sharing stories.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). You are cordially invited to join the family in celebrating the life of our Bay Shore boy. Visitation (light refreshments) will be held on Monday May 12, 2025, from 11:30am-1:45pm followed by the Memorial service at 2:00pm at Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill ext. Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Animal Rescue League, HIllcrest Baptist Church or the charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences can be made at www. Castlefh.ca
