Obituary of Mavis Barbara Vallis
In recognition and sadness of a long life lived we share that Mavis Barbara Vallis passed away on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at the Carleton Kirk Lodge with her family by her side.
Born in Welsford, N.B., Mavis was one of two daughters of the late David Walter Cochrane and Muriel Mabel (Braydon) Cochrane.
Mavis spent all her life in Welsford until moving to Saint John in 2008. Mavis was a school bus driver for many years covering the Saint John – Westfield – Welsford bus run. She played in the Welsford Broom Ball League as a goalie and a member of the Ladies Orange Lodge; she was a past president of Ladies Auxillary branch #22.
Mavis is survived by her two sons, David (Janet) Vallis and Edward (Beth) Vallis of Welsford, N.B.; chosen son, David Galbraith, 11 grandchildren (Andrew, Troy, Katie, Wendy, Davie, Anne, Timmy, James, Maggie, Jordon, Kayla) and several great grandchildren.
Mavis was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Edward Alfred Vallis (1992), her sister Bernice Jones, and her daughters, Evelyn Vallis and Margaret (Ralph) MacDonald.
We would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that Mavis received over these last few years at the Carleton Kirk Lodge.The staff made Mavis feel like family and provided wonderful care for her, this provided much comfort during difficult times.
There will be a celebration of her life at the Welsford Volunteer Fire Department, 619 Eagle Rock Road, Welsford, New Brunswick on Thursday, May 8th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. A private interment for the family will take place after the celebration of her life. Online condolences can be made at www. Castlefh.ca.
