Obituary of Marie Kathleen McCavour
After a 17-month cancer battle fought with dignity and grace, Marie ‘Kathy’ Kathleen McCavour was reunited with her high school sweetheart, W. Clyde McCavour while surrounded by the love of her family. Kathy was born on January 2, 1941 to the late Florence Helene (Cox) Morton, in Saint John.
Kathy moved to Lorneville and her and Clyde were happily married for 52 years, she proudly stayed home to raise their family and remained in the family home until her passing. Kathy was a friend to everyone; it didn’t matter who you were she was always so kind and welcoming. She was also a talented baker, making the most delicious pies, sweets, breads, beans and scones.
Kathy loved travelling, she enjoyed cruises and visiting Florida, Alaska, Scotland, and Europe.
She enjoyed many activities over the years including knitting, ceramics, cross-stitch, square dancing and bingo.
Kathy went above and beyond for her children, being a big supporter in many sporting activities, and later a large part of the pipe band, which all the family were involved in. When the grand children came along she was over the moon, she loved them dearly and never missed anything they were involved in.
Kathy will be dearly missed by her children; Leisa Gaze (Jeremy), Chris McCavour (Sandra), Tim McCavour (Amy), grandchildren; Shane, Kayla, Meghan, Riley, sister Fraze-Ann Wittrien, her beloved feline friends Bella, Jasmine, Hazel, nieces and nephews, and several special friends.
In addition to her mother, Kathy was predeceased by her husband Clyde McCavour, brother Richard Morton and brother-in-law Glenn Wittrien, brother-in-law Stephen McCavour, sister-in-law Ferne McCavour.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM in Lorneville Cemetery for Kathy and Clyde. A reception will follow at Lorneville Community Centre. In lieu of flowers donations in Kathy’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
