Obituary of Dianne Elizabeth Lester
It is with profound sadness, the family of Dianne Elizabeth (Cullinan) Lester announce her passing on April 16th 2025 at The Saint John Regional Hospital.
Dianne was born in Saint John on June 21, 1942 to the late Michael Edward Cullinan and Doris Katherine (Arsenault) Cullinan Leroy and lived her entire life in Saint John. Recently celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary, she is survived by her loving husband, Edward Lester and children: Tony (Kelli) Lester, Angela (Mitch) Cyr, Tania (Greg) Blunden, and Michelle (Jim) McAllister and her beloved grandchildren: Madison, Mikel, Jenna, Riley, William, Katherine (Katie), Regan, Grace and Robert.
As Dianne and Ed were bringing up their young family, Ed went away to a sporting goods show in Montreal, and not to be left out, he signed up as a trophy supplier on a whim and Lester Trophies was born. Somehow he talked Dianne into running the family business and as it grew into a great success, it took over their home (s) and their lives. Dianne gave all of her energy into running Lester Trophies and after many years, she gratefully retired in 2007, handing the reigns over to the next generation.
Dianne was an avid bowler in her early years, and a long time member of Carleton Curling Club. She loved to dance, especially to her favourite live music, had a great passion for travel with her family and friends, entertaining in her home and could always be talked into a glass of Chardonnay.
Dianne handled her health decline with grace and determination, never complaining and always with a dose of humour. Her family would like to thank The Nephrology Department of the Saint John Regional Hospital, including the doctors and many kind dialysis nurses for their exceptional love and care. Her family would like to also thank the Palliative Care Unit at SJRH, specifically Dr Christian Mackin for his guidance.
Dianne is survived by her sister Gail Bonnevie, brother Mark (Vicky) Cullinan, sister-in-laws Joan Butler, Lorraine (Arnie) Boer and Ellen Cullinan. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers Michael Cullinan, Peter Cullinan and brother- in-laws Rick Lester, Leo Bonnevie and James Butler.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be in Dianne’s name to the Nephrology Department at SJRH.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Castle “Fallsview” Chapel.
