Obituary of John Edward Lee
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John ‘Ted’ Lee, on Monday, March 31st, 2025. Born on February 24, 1956, to the late Cedric and Grace (Hodgson), Ted grew up in South Bay and loved the time he spent there, he often shared fond memories of adventures with his brothers in the Acamac Backlands.
He is survived by his son Shayne (Julie), daughter Nicole (Mark), younger brother, Roger (Cindy); 3 grandchildren Brian, Ashlyn & Dylan, and extended family members who will miss his entertaining antics, sharp wit and comical tales of escapades past.
In addition to his parents, Ted was predeceased by his 3 infant children, his older brothers Chris, Richard, and Barry, as well as Nicole’s mother, Angela (or “wife # 2” as he would say).
From a very young age he had a great interest in all things mechanical, which he attributed to his brothers. After graduating from Saint John High School, Ted attended NBCC, taking the Industrial Mechanics Course. He began his career at the Sugar Refinery before moving to Kimbery Clark, now Irving Tissue, in 1981, where he worked until retirement. Ted could often be seen riding his bicycle from his home in Grand Bay to the Tissue Mill (and maybe Noodles Lounge, too!)
Ted loved spending time on the water, beginning in his teenage years with a small motorboat; and many boats thereafter. Later in life, he enjoyed sea kayaking; an interest he shared with Shayne. He owned several motorcycles; Nicole still has his beloved TW, she spent much of her childhood on the backseat, exploring back roads. Ted also enjoyed spending time in the woods, going on journeys that would last for hours, often with his Bluetick Coonhound, Lady, in tow.
Ted never forgot any facts or figures about anything that interested him. He liked going to the firing range and reloading his own ammunition. He would have liked to spend more time panning for gold. He enjoyed the odd beer... and the even ones too.
Family would like to send a special thank you to Shayne’s mother, Pamela, our loving Stepmother, Michelle, and past partner, Gwen, for their patient love and care throughout the years. As well as the staff of Tucker Hall, we are forever grateful to you all.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Keeping with Ted’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
