Obituary of Neil Paul Melanson
Neil Paul Melanson passed away peacefully, surrounded by love at Bobby's Hospice on Monday, March 31, 2025 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Neil was born on July 7, 1978 in Saint John, NB and built his home in Carters Point where he was able to live his best life near the woods and wildlife.
Neil will be missed dearly by his wife of 18 years, Brandy Melanson (Johnson), their two sons; Noah and Jack Melanson, his mother MaryAnne Melanson, grandmother Bernice Melanson, Parents-in-law, Keith and Brenda Johnson, sister-in-law Lacey Johnson, special cousin Melissa (Mike) McNulty, canine companion Archer, and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandfather Roy Melanson.
Neil had huge passion for his work as a mechanic and the friendships he made with his coworkers at Riverside Golf and Country Club, Rockwood Golf course and Hampton.
Family was most important to Neil and they built a life they loved through family game nights playing Rummoli, fishing, camping, country drives, and spent the past year cruising and travelling the Caribbean together.
Neil enjoyed nature and spent as much time as he could breathing in the outdoors! He loved biking and buggying in the back woods, fishing, hunting, camping, boating, and garage time with friends.
'Remember the smiles and not the tears
Don't dwell on the things left unsaid~
Cherish the memories we had instead.'
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Doctor's, Nurses and staff at Bobby's Hospice, the Oncology department at the Saint John Regional Hospital, the Palliative Care team, and Saint John Ambulance (Kylie) for their kindness and compassion during Neil's journey.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, from 12:00 Noon- 2:00 PM with a celebration of Life following immediately in Castle Fallsview Chapel. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery and a reception to follow at Denis Morris Community Center, 330 Greenhead Road, Saint John, NB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Neil's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Bobby's Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
