Obituary of Robert Webster Clifford
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Webster Clifford announce his passing on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. Bob was born on September 5, 1943 in Saint John, NB to the late Harold and Phyllis (Melvin) Clifford.
Bob will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Gloria Hachey, son Robert jr. Clifford (Alicia), step sons; Richard Hachey and Michael Hachey (Shari), grandchildren Jordan (Michelle), Michael (Bailey) and Lovane, great granddaughter Haley, siblings; Chummy Clifford, Bonnie Lee (Jimmy), and Wanda McBriar, sisters in law; Polly Clifford and Elaine Clifford, special friends Paul Green and Percy Cobham, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents Bob was predeceased by his brothers; Harold, Neil and Colby Clifford, brother-in-law Monty McBriar, and granddaughter Haley Michelle.
Bob was a truly kind and generous man. He consistently went out of his way to help others, always ready to lend a hand without seeking recognition for his good deeds. He had a talent for lawn care and became known in his neighborhood as the go-to person for mowing lawns, happily taking care of everyone's yards on the street.
Bob dedicated most of his career to Saint John Iron Works in the shipping and receiving department. Later, he transitioned to CFM, where he eventually retired, marking the end of his professional journey. Bob went on to work as a driver for Avis Car Rental for several years.
Beyond his professional life, Bob was deeply involved in his community. For many years, he managed the Carleton Squires softball team. Additionally, he served as President of Legion Branch #2 and spent several years as their bartender, creating a welcoming space for all. Bob also bartended at Adanac for several years.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3.
