Obituary of Marilyn Nordstrom

Mary Marilyn Nordstrom passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, at Kennebec Manor. Marilyn was born on September 26, 1940, in Saint John, NB to the late Edgar and Dorothy (Smith) Shephard, Marilyn was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Marilyn will be dearly missed by her husband of 62 years, Gerald(Syl) Nordstrom and their children; Shelley Nordstrom, Diane Morgan (Tim), and Lisa Knox (Rodney), Derek Nordstrom; grandchildren; Brett Knox, Jeffrey Knox, Matthew Morgan, Lexi Morgan, Lauren Nordstrom, Erin Nordstrom, and Kirklund Nordstrom, great grandchildren; Allison, Charlie, Ameila, Lyla and Marlee, sisters in law Roseanne Shephard, Barbara Shephard, and Yvonne Nordstrom, brother in law Mackie Hewey, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Gerald Bruce Nordstrom, siblings; William Shephard, Douglas Shephard, Eleanor Hewey, Jean Collwell, Darlene Loiser, and Eddy Shephard.

Marilyn proudly stayed home and raised her children, once they were older Marilyn returned to the workforce and began a 20-year career with the Bank of Nova Scotia. Marilyn loved the years she spent working there.  In earlier years she enjoyed creating ceramics.

Marilyn devoutly loved her husband Gerald, they cherished each other, their family and the life they built together. Gerald often remarked that he had married “The prettiest girl in West Saint John”, and their lively spirit led them on many adventures over the years.

They enjoyed boating on the St. John River, spending time at the camp, and above all, cherishing their moments with family. Marilyn's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world, and she adored them beyond measure.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the in-homecare team as well as Kennebec manor care team for the wonderful care and compassion you provided to our mother. Your dedication and kindness meant so much to her and to us.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke’s Anglican Church. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Marilyn’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Kennebec Manor or a charity of the donor’s choice.
