Obituary of Donald King
Joseph Donald King passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Donald was born on December 11, 1961 in Saint John, NB to the late William and Yvonne (Landry) King.
Donald will be dearly missed by his wife of 31 years, Shyanne (Noris) King, their sons; Donald Jr. (Genevieve LeBlanc), Ryan (best friend Bria Basque), grandchildren; Aidan, Leo, Everley, Adley and Sophie, siblings; John King (Angela) and Diane Dempsey (Wade Williams), special nieces and nephews; Brian, Krista (Louis MacMillan), John, Tanya, and Kristen, and several great nieces, 1 great nephew and 1 great great nephew.
In addition to his parents Donald was predeceased by his son Daniel William King.
Donald began his professional life with a moving company, where he naturally became the go-to person for packing within his family. From there, he transitioned to Strescon and eventually found his way to Local 900. At Local 900, Donald gained experience in maintenance, construction, and fire and rescue.
He was a remarkably kind and sociable person, always able to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. This quality allowed him to build a wide network of friends and acquaintances in his westside community. Donald was also incredibly generous with his time and energy, always willing to lend a helping hand, even when he should have been focusing on his own well-being.
Some of Donald's most cherished memories were family camping trips, fishing and hunting with his boys, and working on cars with his son Donnie Jr. Family was everything to him, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored.
Donald also enjoyed playing bingo, collecting hockey cards and guitars, and attending horse races and visiting the Moncton Casino with his wife and siblings.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, March 14 at 11:00 AM in Castle Fallsview Chapel. A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu flowers donations in Donald's memory can be made to Family Plus, Child and Youth Addictions and Mental Health Services Saint John, or a charity of the donor's choice.
