Obituary of Marion Joan Chaisson
It is with broken hearts that the family of Marion Joan Chaisson announce her passing on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Marion was born on October 24, 1944 in Saint John, NB to the late Ralph Sr. and Mary Ella (Yearwood) Folkins.
Marion will be dearly missed by her daughter Debbie Chaisson, grandson Derek Chaisson, great grandson Hugh Chaisson, brother Ralph Folkins, sister Barbara Montreuil (William), brother-in-law Paul Wallace, nieces; Rosanne Ouellette (Doug) and Cindy Montreuil, nephew Corey Montreuil (Karen), and dear friend Nancy Splane.
In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by her sister Catherine Wallace.
Marion was a vibrant and spirited woman who always ensured that her family shared in her zest for life. In her younger years, Marion cherished moments dancing with her sisters and listening to records. In her 30s and 40s, she excelled as a champion bowler, actively participating in the women’s league at the old Westside Bowling Alley. Marion loved nature and enjoyed bird watching and spending time watching the deer in the back yard of the Milford homestead.
Her family was the center of her world. She stayed home to raise her daughter and, later, her grandson. Derek and ‘Nan’ shared countless special memories, from teaching him how to play catch to refinishing furniture together. Marion adored Derek’s friends and loved the Milford boys dearly, creating many special memories over the years.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Marion’s Life will take place on Saturday, March 8 at 10:00 AM in Castle Fallsview Chapel, with interment following in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Carleton-Kirk Lodge in memory of Marion. These facilities are essential services in our community and they need every bit of help they can get. The family thanks you for your generosity!
