Obituary of Joyce Constance Phillips
It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Joyce Constance Phillips on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a period of failing health.
Born in Saint John, NB in 1936, Joyce was a daughter of the late Kenneth Frederick Hamilton and Constance Phyllis (McLaughlin) Hamilton, and beloved wife of the late Richard Eugene Phillips. Joyce was a resident of Grand Bay – Westfield for 65 years.
Joyce and Richard spent many wonderful years trailering at Mactaquac Provincial Park. Joyce was an avid knitter and loved to cook for her family. She enjoyed her life as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grammy and felt very blessed with such a large family that God had given to her.
Joyce is survived by four sons: Bruce (Kathy) Phillips of Riverview, Mark (Jan) Phillips of Grand Bay – Westfield, Douglas Phillips of Germany, Brian (Shelley) Phillips of Saskatchewan; 12 grandchildren; Karen Sutherland (Gord), Stephen Quinlan (Christina), Michelle LeBlanc (Guillaume), Richard Phillips (Carly), Sam Phillips, Dr. Brendan Phillips (Megan), Nick Phillips, (Samantha), Jonathan Phillips, Jaimie Atkins (Daniel) Crystal Gray (Jordan), Sebastian Phillips and Annalena Phillips and 7 great-grandchildren, brother, David Hamilton (Donna) of Saint John, NB, one sister, Nancy Schellenburg of Winnipeg Manitoba.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Constance (McLaughlin) Hamilton, her husband, Richard Eugene Phillips, her only daughter, Patty Quinlan, and twin great-grandsons.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave.,Saint John, NB (506) 634-1701). There will be no visiting or funeral services at this time. Graveside prayers will be held at Old Cedar Hill Cemetery, Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. on Friday June 6, 2025 at 11:00am.Donations to the Children’s Wish Foundation or IWK Children’s hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.ca.
