Obituary of Margaret Anne Ross
It is with great sadness for the Family of Margaret Anne Ross of Saint John West to share that she left us unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Margaret, born on May 25, 1948 in Saint John, NB, was the daughter of the late Frank and Constance (Thorne) Murphy.
Margaret became an adult Catholic through the RCIA and participated as a devoted member for 22 years. Through the RCIA she became a personal sponsor to 7 people who were new to Catholicism. Margaret was a devout Catholic and an active member in her Assumption Parish. She was the secretary for Parish council for 6 years, a Eucharistic Minister, Catechism teacher, sang in the choir and worked many harvest dinners over the years. She loved her church and community.
Over the years Margaret worked for JDI, spent time caring for her nephews when they were young, worked retail which she loved, but most knew her for the time she spent working at the “Little Blue Store” in Fundy Heights, a place that allowed her to be the social butterfly she was. She eventually retired to provide full-time care to her mother, for which the family is forever grateful. Margaret also canvased for the Heart and Stroke Foundation for several years.
Margie will be dearly missed by her sisters; Nancy McGuire (Richard) and Susan Rogstad (Kurt), brother in law Don Legere, Uncle Gene Thorne & cousins, nieces and nephews; Amy Brewer (Bill), Terri Legere (Caroline), Donna Tobias (Sam), (God child) Sean McGuire (Brittany), Corey McGuire (Marissa), (God child) Keegan Duffley, and Jennifer Canuel (Regan), great nieces and nephews; Ruby, (God child) Abigail, Ashton, Archer, Claire, Jesselynn, Isabelle, and Maverick, and caregivers Roxy and Katerina.
In addition to her parents Margaret was predeceased by her brother Peter Ross, sister Karen Legere and many beloved aunts & uncles.
We will always remember Margie’s hand-written poems and her trademark verse “Remember to always smile because God thinks you are special and so do I.”
Resting at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM, a Memorial Service will follow immediately in the Chapel at 2:00 PM with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
