Obituary of Robert Frank Joseph Dignard

Robert Frank Joseph Dignard passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Robert was born on April 22 1953 in Saint john, NB to the late Joseph Albert and Marie (Philomenne Landry) Dignard.

Robert will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Denise (Chevarie) Dignard, siblings; Lillian Doucette (Gilbert), Irene Kennedy (Neil), Paul Dignard (Cathy) and John Dignard (Theresa), special pup Lillie, wonderful next door neighbour Gloria McGowan, Blue Grass Band buddies and Westside Tim Hortons’s friends, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Robert was predeceased by his brother Leo Dignard.

Robert worked for 36 years at Irving Pulp and Paper as an industrial mechanic. After retirement Robert enjoyed working in the garage, doing home repairs for friends and family and creating beautiful tole artwork with Denise. Robet would craft objects out of wood and Denise would paint them. Robert also enjoyed spending time at the Simms Coroner Tim’s chatting with friends over coffee.  Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 17984 for several years.

Robert loved music; he played guitar and sang in a Blue Grass band with his buddies for many years.  He also enjoyed jamming with his music friends in the Kent co area, where he and Denise would spend their summers at the cottage.

Robert and Denise created numerous fond memories at cottage over the years. They built their summer sanctuary from the ground up, creating a peaceful and special place for them to share with close friends and family.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Keeping with Robert’s wishes cremation has taken place and no service will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers donations in Robert’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
