What a privilege to have had such a wonderful man for an uncle. When you were with Uncle Andrew, you were safe. He was a ginormous kid magnet! During the teen years, he was a great listener. He never lost that little twinkle in his eye. Uncle Andrew was the true example of a gentleman and his treatment of Aunt Marg was without spot. To Aunt Marg, Karla and Jennifer, and your families, I am truly sorry for your great loss. He loved you all so!

It is with a heavy heart I recall some very fond and lasting memories of my dear uncle Andrew. Such an understanding, patient, hard working and giving man. He could also be a clown, and this attribute along with a knack for entertaining us kids while growing up is why I'm sure we all gravitated to him. As youngsters growing up in South Bay we would always be be on the lookout for uncle Andrew coming down the dirt road we lived on with "old blue", his old chev truck. All of us jumping in the back box of the truck to take the short trip the store or across the main road to the Harts lumber hardware store was always treat. Summers spent at the camps on Lake Utopia and Belleaisle were always entertaining while Uncle Andrew was around. From swimming, fishing, skating, boating, carpentry or the simple art of building a camp fire he was always there to lend a hand. I have been very fortunate to have had my uncle as my neighbor while raising my own family. He is the model we all strive for as human beings and will be greatly missed. I could go on with story after story of of this great uncle of mine but I think will save those for a future time reminiscing with my dear aunt Marg to whom I send my deepest sympathies to as well as the rest of my uncles family. We love you uncle Andrew and aunt Marg Bruce, Maureen, Kendra and Jenna

Our deepest sympathy to Marg, Karla, Jennifer and family on the passing of Andrew. I have such fond memories of Mom, Dad and the six kids piling in the car and going over to see the south bay crowd. Everyone was so friendly and loving but I seemed to gravitate toward Andrew. Perhaps it was because he liked to tease ? He was always so loving, friendly and seemed to enjoy entertaining the kids. We cherished those visits. When I was older and had children of my own the same thing happened. We would go to visit and Andrew would entertain my kids. He had such a lovely smile and made time for the children. Every time I would see Andrew the time from our last visit would just disappear. He will be missed !!! I can picture Andrew now telling Saint Peter a story and them both laughing !! God Bless Scott, Janet, Jennifer , Adam MacKnight

Andy will surely be missed. He was a perfect gentleman, and a true friend. We first got to know them when we visited their trailer on the Belle Isle and in their home. Also having Andy and Marg as members of Hillcrest Baptist was a blessing. Andy was always interested in how things were progressing at the church. In recent years we continued our visits at their home on Keating Road and at Samuel de Champlain residence. When the pandemic made that impossible, we maintained contact occasionally by phone. Many great memories!

Sending all my love and strength to Marg, Jenn, Karla and family. It’s never easy nor ever feels like the “right” time for someone so loved to go ❤️ I always called Andrew “Uncle Andrew” but he was my GREAT uncle. I don’t know how often that happens. But growing up next door to him on Keating Road he was much like an uncle and I feel so blessed for that. Allowing the neighbourhood kids to snack on the carrots from his vegetable garden in the summers and slide on the hill across the road from his house in the winters. He was always around and with a smile or a wave as he passed by. I remember all of the adults having such respect for Andrew and always stopping to chat with him. Knowing he is now reunited with his only child, Dale brings peace and comfort to my mind and heart. He will forever be in our hearts. All our love and prayers, Rachel & Chris

To Marg and to Andy's family I wish to express my sincere heartfelt loss of a wonderful man and friend of family members. Being thoughtful and kind, he wanted to include all in his friendships. He had great stories to tell, some hilarious and some very thought provoking and serious. None of his stories were at the expense of others. I will always be thankful for Andy and Marg's many cherished visits. All are remembered in prayer at this time.

Sending hugs to Aunt Marg, Karla, Jennifer and families as well as Uncle Andrew's brothers and sisters. I reflect on the wonderful life Uncle Andrew lived alongside his love Aunt Marg and how generous they were. Their love for family was demonstrated to us as young kids growing up and seeing them daily. They would collect us English kids many Friday night's in the summer and take us and all our paraphernalia to the log cabin on Lake Utopia....couldn't forget the baked beans! He would guide us across the lake by boat...usually in the dark, once there he would chase out any bats from the cabin and shuffle us off to bed, usually amidst the giggles and arguing about who got the bunk bed! He would appear eagerly the next morning preparing the coffee, bacon and eggs for us before heading off to Uncle Andrew's adventure camp!! He would teach us to swim( with soggy lifejackets), how to paddle a canoe, how to catch frogs, how to fish, and lots of laughing and teasing. My favorite was the boat trip around the lake getting the " fresh spring fed drinking water"....I was amazed how he remembered where they were located and how expert he was with that dipper! We always laughed as he entertained us on the beach with one of his " swimsuit dances". It is a wonder he still had some patience to teach us to play 45's by lamplight at the end of what must have been an exhausting day with 4 crazy nieces and nephew. I credit my paddling skills to the best Uncle . Rest easy Uncle Andrew
