Cecilia Marie Savoie passed away peacefully at her residence, Tucker Hall Parkland, Saint John, NB on Thursday, August 19, 2021 just 6 weeks before her 99th birthday.
Born in Tracadie, New Brunswick on September 30, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Octave Savoie and the late Marie Jeanne Savoie.
Cecilia worked for many years as a laboratory assistant at the DVA Hospital and at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Cecilia had a great love for travelling to places such as Australia, Europe, the Orient and the South Pacific. She made life long friends everywhere she went. When she could no longer travel the world, she got pleasure from visiting her family and friends in Bathurst and Tracadie. She enjoyed socializing with her church community at Fundamental Baptist Church, going for drives and lunch with her friends and “getting lost” for the day. She loved picking whatever fruit was in season only to give it all away.
She will be remembered fondly by her family and many many friends for her “joie de vivre” and her familiar expression “Go while you can!”
Her family would like to sincerely thank the many dear friends, too numerous to name, for their friendship and support throughout her life.
Cecilia is survived by her sister Malvina Robichaud of Tracadie, her sister in law, Julienne Savoie, nephews and 1 niece as well as several great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Eva Stever and her brothers Aurèle Savoie, Edmond Savoie and Vincent Savoie.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB, 506-634-1701. Service will be held at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM, followed by burial at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Cecilia, can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
